Nirbhaya's convicts are complicating matter unnecessarily: KTS Tulsi

Hours after three of the four convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case approached the International Court of Justice (ICJ), seeking a stay on the execution of their death sentence, Senior Advocate and Rajya Sabha MP, KTS Tulsi condemned the act saying they are complicating the situation unnecessarily as the jurisdiction of holding them guilty or innocent lies with the domestic criminal courts.

New Delhi:Blaming the Nirbhaya convicts for causing delay in getting justice, Senior Advocate and Rajya Sabha MP, KTS Tulsi accused them for "complicating situation" as they have now approached the International Court of Justice (ICJ), seeking a stay on the execution of their death sentence.

While speaking to ETV Bharat, KTS Tulsi said, "I think they are complicating the situation unnecessarily. This is a domestic matter. It's a crime against the Indian society, hence the jurisdiction of holding them guilty or innocent lies with the domestic criminal courts."

He further added, "There is no reason why they have to approach the International Court of Justice because in the first place, the delay is really caused by them. They have unnecessarily one after the another got the death warrants postponed. Of course, it amounts to cruelty but it is the result of their doings of the accused themselves or their lawyers."

The Supreme Court, on Monday, had rejected the fourth convict, Mukesh's plea seeking restoration of legal remedies alleging that his earlier lawyers mislead him. The bench of Justices held his plea as not maintainable.

"Supreme Court has already dealt with the matter and all the proceedings of the cases one after the other. Therefore, it does not need to intervene into the matter anymore," said Tulsi.
