New Delhi:NIA has filed a charge-sheet against Abdur Rahman alias Dr Brave in a Special NIA Court in New Delhi under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, in connection with an Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) case. The accused has been charge-sheeted for furthering ideology and activities of the proscribed terrorist organisation.
Earlier, a charge-sheet was filed against five accused persons namely Jahanzaib Sami and Hina Bashir Beigh of Srinagar, Abdullah Basith of Hyderabad, Sadiya Anwar Shaikh and Nabeel Siddick Khatri of Pune under the UAPA.
The case arose out of Delhi Police Special Cell's arrest of Jahanzaib Sami Wani and his wife Hina Bashir Beigh from Delhi's Jamia Nagar on 8 March 2020 on receiving an input that they were affiliated to the banned terrorist organization ISKP, a part of ISIS, and were planning subversive/anti-national activities in India. NIA had re-registered the case on 20 March 2020 and took up the investigation.
During further investigation, Abdur Rahman alias Dr Brave was arrested on August last year from Bangalore by NIA. According to NIA, Rahman got radicalised while he was studying MBBS at Bangalore Medical College and later travelled to Syria in December 2013 and participated in various terrorist activities of ISIS.
