Thiruvanthapuram:The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday arrested two terrorists, one belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba and one from Indian Mujahideen from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in Kerala. Reportedly, one among them is a Keralite named Shuhaib from Kannur and the other one is an Uttar Pradesh native.
According to initial reports, NIA and RAW officials interrogated them for two hours. Both of them came back from Riyadh.
The alleged terrorists were under the scanner of top central security agencies in terrorism cases and were nabbed in a highly-secretive joint NIA-RAW operation. They were taken into custody from the Thiruvananthapuram airport as soon as they arrived on a flight from Riyadh on Monday evening.
The two were brought from Riyadh based on a look-out notice against them. Shuhaib was allegedly part of the team which engineered the 2008 Bengaluru bomb blast.
The other person is Mohammed Gul Nawaz, from Uttar Pradesh, and allegedly involved in a Delhi bomb blast case. According to the NIA, Shuhaib will be taken to Bengaluru, while Nawaz would be taken to Delhi
Earlier, the NIA had arrested nine operatives linked with the Al-Qaeda terror group, who were planning attacks at several key installations in Delhi-NCR. The group was planning to undertake terrorist attacks at vital installations in India with an aim to kill innocent people and strike terror in their minds," the spokesperson said, adding that it has registered a case on September 11.
