New born baby found abandoned in Tamil Nadu amid lockdown

Tirupur police on Sunday received information about a newborn baby who was found abandoned on the side of the road near Periyar colony in Tamil Nadu amid the nationwide lockdown. Police rushed to the spot and took the baby to a nearby private hospital.

Tirupur (Tamilnadu):Tirupur police on Saturday received information about a newborn baby girl who was found abandoned on the side of the road near Periyar colony in Tamil Nadu.

Passersby had found the abandoned infant, who is barely a day old, and called the police, following which police officials rushed to the spot and took the baby to a nearby private hospital.

Police then informed the child welfare department which in turn admitted the infant at Tirupur Government Hospital.

The baby girl was wrapped in a towel and was left at the pavement on the side of the road.
