Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand):Days after lodging a strong protest against India for having inaugurated the Link Road construction through Lipulekh pass which remains an unresolved territory between India and Nepal, Kathmandu has set up a Border Observation Post (BOP) near Kalapani at Chhangru, on the Nepalese side of the border, close to Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district.
As many as 34 personnel from the Armed Police Force of Nepal and Nepal Police were flown by helicopter to Chhangru for deployment at the BOP.
Meanwhile, when asked if he had any idea about the setting up of the BOP near Pithoragarh, district magistrate Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that he is yet to receive any official communication on the post by the Nepal government.
The Kalapani territory is an area disputed between India and Nepal but falls under Indian administration as part of Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand.
