National Tribal Dance Festival to be held in Raipur from December 27

The three-day National Tribal Dance Festival is being organised to preserve and promote tribal folk art in Chhattisgarh. Around 39 tribal groups would be participating in the four different categories covering around 43 dance styles.

Raipur: Chhattisgarh is going to hold its first National Tribal Dance Festival in state capital Raipur between December 27 to 29.

The event, which is being organised to preserve and promote tribal folk art, will showcase traditional tribal dances performed on weddings, crop harvesting, festivals, and on other occasions.

Rahul Gandhi will inaugurate the three-day national-level tribal dance festival which will be held at science college grounds.

Several senior Congress leaders are expected to attend the event. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will preside over the function.

Around 39 tribal groups would be participating in the four different categories covering around 43 dance styles.

More than 2500 artists from 24 Indian states and 6 different countries are going to participate in this festival.

The participating states are: Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Assam, Sikkim, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttrakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Ladakh, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Odisha, West Bengal, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir.

Artists from Uganda, Maldives, Belarus, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Thailand are also going to perform in the land of Chhattisgarh.

  • Non-competitive cultural performances - by Guest Artistes (35 minutes).

  • Lunch Break

3:30 PM To 8:30 PM

  • Marriage and other rituals / traditional festivals and rituals/dance competition on harvesting and agriculture / other traditional trades - Rajasthan, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Kerala, Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh And Chhattisgarh (Time for each troupe 25 minutes).
  • Non-competitive cultural performances - by Guest Artistes (25 minutes).

December 28

10:00 AM To 2:00 PM

  • Marriage & Other Rites / Traditional Festivals & Rituals / Dance Competition on Harvesting and Agriculture / Other Traditional Trades - Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tripura, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh (Time for each troupe 25 minutes).
  • Non-competitive cultural performances - by Guest Artistes (15 minutes).

2:00 PM To 3:30 PM

  • Lunch Break.

3:30 PM To 8:30 PM

  • Marriage and other rituals / traditional festivals and rituals/dance competition on harvesting and agriculture / other traditional trades - Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Sikkim, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh (Time for each troupe 25 minutes).
  • Non-competitive cultural performances - by Guest Artistes (35 minutes).

December 29

10:00 AM To 2:00 PM

  • Marriage and other rituals / traditional festivals and rituals/dance competition on harvesting and agriculture / other traditional trades - Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Jammu, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh (Time for each troupe 25 minutes).
  • Non-competitive cultural performances - by Guest Artistes (40 minutes).

2:00 PM To 3:30 PM

  • Lunch Break.

3:30 PM To 6:30 PM

  • Marriage and other rituals / traditional festivals and rituals/dance competition on harvesting and agriculture / other traditional trades - Telangana, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Sikkim and Tamil Nadu (Time for each troupe 25 minutes).
  • Non-competitive cultural performances - by Guest Artistes (30 minutes).

6:30 PM To 8:30 PM

  • Closing Ceremony, Award Distribution / Honors

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on October 12, 2019, unveiled the logo of the National Tribal Dance Festival at his residence. He also released social media pages of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, including the festival website www.tribalfest2019.in.
