Naga accord should not affect autonomy of other NE states: Congress

Neighbouring states including Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh are worried about the demand of 'Greater Nagalim' as the NSCN(IM) is demanding certain areas of these three states.

On the prevailing situation, Dima Hasao District Congress President Nirmal Langtasha said, the peace talks and framework agreement shouldn't have any impact over integrity of Dima Hasao and Halflong territory of Assam.

While Welcoming the development they also warned that the inclusion of Dima Haso area in the proposed Greater Nagalim will result to socio-political unrest in the hilly region.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, the Congress leader said," Dima Hasao is one of the two autonomous hill districts of the state of Assam. Anything which might change this scenario is not what we seek for."

The talks to find a lasting solution to the seven-decade-old insurgency problem in Nagaland continued for the third consecutive day on Wednesday, with the Centre's interlocutor and Governor R N Ravi holding two rounds of discussions with the NSCN-IM, officials said.

While the dialogue with the Naga National Political Groups (NNPG) is almost over, the talks with the NSCN-IM, a major insurgent group in the Northeast, has been continuing as the outfit continues to insist on its demands for a separate flag and Constitution for the Nagas.
