New Delhi:A bilateral meet between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September can't be ruled out right now, according to the Ministry of External Affairs sources.
MEA sources confirmed that the possibility of the U.S. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Modi's bilateral meet The bilateral between both leaders came under a shadow after U.S. President offered to mediate in the Kashmir issue during a media briefing with Pakistani PM Imran Khan in Washington DC last month.
India was quick to refuse the U.S. President's offer by calling it a bilateral issue.
It also cited the 1972 Simla agreement and 1999 Lahore Declaration which rejected the third party intervention in Kashmir issue.
On Monday, Indian ambassador to Washington Harsh Shringla during an interview to Fox News also confirmed that U.S. President's offer for mediation is not on the table anymore as India hasn't accepted his offer.
ETV Bharat has learned from the MEA sources that modalities regarding PM's engagement in the U.S. are to be finalized. It also stated that PM Modi also likely to visit Houston.
