New Delhi: With the Union Cabinet having approved Citizenship Amendment Bill a few days ago, the Narendra Modi government, which is a bit apprehensive about its passage in parliament, is leaving no stone unturned to get the bill passed.
Modi, Shah busy ensuring full support for Citizenship Amendment Bill The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), which seeks to change the Citizenship Act, 1955 to make illegal migrants in select categories eligible for citizenship, is likely to be introduced in parliament on Monday. According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have prepared a strategy to get the important bill passed in both the houses - Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.
A senior BJP leader has told ETV Bharat here that the government is a bit apprehensive about the bill and does not want to take a chance of any kind.
It has, therefore, started convincing and persuading the NDA partners about it. Both, Modi and Shah, are serious on the issue and have advised BJP leaders and MPs to take everyone concerned into confidence on the matter and ensure the smooth passage of the bill.
