New Delhi: Living in a neighbourhood with no friends is dangerous, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Wednesday and alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had destroyed the "web of relationships" that the Congress had built with countries over decades. Attacking the government on Twitter, Gandhi also tagged a report in The Economist titled 'As Bangladesh's relations with India weaken, ties with China strengthen'.
"Mr Modi has destroyed the web of relationships that the Congress built and nurtured over several decades," Gandhi alleged. "Living in a neighbourhood with no friends is dangerous," the former Congress chief added.
The Congress has been critical of the Modi government's foreign policy, alleging thatties with neighbours have been weakened. The government has denied the charge and said India's ties have deepened with several countries and its position has strengthened globally.

The remarks of the Wayanad MP comes at a time when India and China have been locked in a bitter dispute over a four-month prolonged standoff along the eastern region of Ladakh. The situation turned murkier after the skirmish in Galwan valley in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed and several were injured. India's ties with Nepal were also strained after the latter unanimously passed a new political cap in its Parliament, claiming a stake in some of the Indian terrorists.
Gandhi's tweet also accompanied a snapshot of a report by The Economist on India’s weakening ties with Bangladesh, a close ally. China and Bangladesh's relations have subsequently improved after the nation and China have been at loggerheads due to the border stand-off.
