MHRD seeks ideas to improve online education system during lockdown

The Human Resource Development Ministry has advised students and teachers to opt for online classes and asked them to share their ideas through a week-long campaign named 'Bharat Padhe Online'.

New Delhi:The nationwide lockdown imposed in the wake of COVID-19 is likely to be extended due to rising cases of corona positive patients across the country.

The lockdown affected the education ecosystem at a time when board examinations were going on and the number of competitive exams and entrance tests was scheduled to be held. The dates were first extended and then the ministry ultimately took a call by advising the institutions and testing agencies to postpone the exams and tests till further notice.

The students, as well as teachers, were advised to opt for online learning platforms of government and in such difficult times, the online learning platforms became the prime medium for students and teachers to maintain the regularity of academics.

To improve the online education ecosystem in the country the Human Resource Development Ministry launched a week-long campaign on Friday named 'Bharat Padhe Online' urging stakeholders to come up with ideas and contribute their bit to make online education better.

The ideas for this campaign can be shared via Twitter using #BharatPadheOnline and notifying @HRDMinistry and HRD Minister @DrRPNishank and also via mail on bharatpadheonline.mhrd@gmail.com. The deadline for sharing the ideas is 16th April 2020.

HRD minister in his statement said that students and teachers are the main target audience for this campaign and expressed hope that they will participate wholeheartedly to improve the existing online education methods.

"Students who are currently studying in schools or higher educational institutions are the ones engaging with the existing digital platforms offering various courses daily. They can share what is lacking in the existing online platforms and how we can make them more engaging" said the HRD Minister.

He further said that educators across the country can also come forward to contribute with their expertise and experience in the field of education.

At a time when regular classroom education will take more time to resume, the online education system is the only choice the educational institutions are left with. The efforts to make them better by inviting ideas from students and teachers would help the government bring necessary changes or improvements and make them more engaging and effective.
