MHA orders 'immediate' withdrawal of 100 CAPF companies from J-K

After a security review, MHA has ordered to withdraw 100 companies of CAPFs from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This CAPFs personnel were sent to the Kashmir valley after the Centre abrogated Article 370.

New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered "immediate" withdrawal of 100 companies of various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) from Jammu Kashmir after a security review.

"It is to intimate that the deployment of CRPF in Jammu and Kashmir has further been reviewed in this ministry. It has been decided to withdraw 100 coys of CAPF with immediate effect from J&K and revert back to their respective locations," the Ministry of Home Affairs order stated.

One company has about 100 personnel.

As per the order copy, accessed by ETV Bharat, 40 companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and 20 each of the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) have been asked to revert back to their respective locations.

Notably, the Ministry of Home Affairs had last withdrawn about 10 CAPF companies from Jammu and Kashmir.

In December last year, MHA had ordered for withdrawal of 72 companies of CAPFs after a high-level meeting on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir which was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and NSA Ajit Doval.

This CAPFs personnel were sent to the Kashmir valley after the Centre abrogated Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
