Charkhi Dadri (Haryana):Driven by the urge to be with his elderly mother who was all alone at home, a man cycled for 16 days to cover a distance of 1,281 kilometres from Mumbai in Maharashtra to his home town in Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri district.
Sanjay Ramphal, who is a theatre artist by profession, went to Mumbai three months ago, before the coronavirus outbreak wreaked havoc in the country, to audition for a few plays. But got stuck in the financial capital after a sudden lockdown was imposed in the country with just four hours notice by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“I had gone to Mumbai three months ago as I am a struggling actor. My elderly mother was all alone at home, so I was worried about her. I was under the impression that the lockdown would be lifted soon I booked my tickets back home but that didn’t work out as the lockdown was extended,” Ramphal told ETV Bharat.
