Sanjay Ramphal, who is a theatre artist by profession, went to Mumbai three months ago, before the coronavirus outbreak wreaked havoc in the country, to audition for a few plays. But got stuck in the financial capital after a sudden lockdown was imposed in the country with just four hours notice by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“I had gone to Mumbai three months ago as I am a struggling actor. My elderly mother was all alone at home, so I was worried about her. I was under the impression that the lockdown would be lifted soon I booked my tickets back home but that didn’t work out as the lockdown was extended,” Ramphal told ETV Bharat.

Ramphal added, “So I bought a cycle from OLX (online marketplace), got my check-up done in Mumbai before leaving for home. I cycled my way home for 16 days.”

Sanjay left Mumbai for Haryana on April 11 and reached his destination on 27th of this month.

Everyday he covered a distance of 80 to 90 kilometres.
