New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday urged the government to waive GST on all COVID-19-related equipment.
He said it was "wrong" on the part of the government to charge Goods and Services Tax (GST) on sanitisers, soaps and masks.
"During this difficult time of COVID-19, we have been constantly demanding that GST should not be charged on all small, big equipment related to the management of this epidemic," Gandhi tweeted in Hindi.
"It is wrong to collect GST on sanitisers, soaps, masks, gloves etc. from the people who are suffering from disease and poverty. We will stand by our demand of #GSTFreeCorona," he said.
