Maharashtra police submits report to SC in Palghar lynching case

Maharashtra police has informed the apex court that charge sheets have already been filed and investigation against involved police personnel has also been done in the Palghar lynching case. The reply has come in response to the top court's order of August 6 wherein it had asked the Maharashtra government to put the charge sheets on record.

New Delhi: Opposing the plea for CBI enquiry in the Palghar lynching case, Maharashtra police has informed the Supreme Court that charge sheets have already been filed and investigation against involved police personnel has also been done.

Informing further, it said that Assistant Police Sub Inspector, Ravindra Dinkar Salunkhe, and Head constable, Naresh Nageen Dhondi, have been given compulsory retirement.

Assistant police sub-inspector, Anandrao Shivaji, has been dismissed from the service and apart from them, 15 police personnel accused of negligence have been punished with bringing down their salaries to minimum pay of a police constable for a period of 1- 3 years.

The reply has come in response to the top court's order of August 6 wherein it had asked the Maharashtra government to put the charge sheets on record, give details of departmental enquiry, action taken and enquiry report.
