Triple talaq bill passes LS test

In a massive victory for the ruling BJP, the lower house passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2019 with 303 members voting infavour of the bill. 

Meanwhile, the Congress staged a walkout during the voting procedure, protesting against the law. 

According to reports, Congress, JD(U), TMC staged a walkout. 

Verdict against the bill stands at 82.

Triple talaq bill to ensure women's justice: RS Prasad

Thanking all women MPs who participated in the debate, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad puts on a strong defence for the bill, by quoting the words of prophet Mohammed.

"If Islamic countries have banned the practice of triple talaq, we can also make changes as we are a secular country," said Ravi Shankar Prasad. 

Further, Prasad claimed that bill is not about religion, politics or votes; but about women's security, justice and empowerment.

Speaking against the proposed Triple Talaq bill, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi claims that the bill is anti-islam.

"The Supreme Court has decriminalised homosexuality. The apex court also decriminalised adultry. Now the Union government is trying to criminalise triple talaq," claims Owaisi. 

Owaisi also claimed that the law is meant to seperate Muslims from their religion.

"If you have any respect for women, send all women BJP MP in a special aircraft to Sabarimala," said Owaisi.

Meanwhile, Rama Devi replied to Azam Khan asking him to expunge his words.
