Lok Sabha polls: Congress releases 8th list of candidates

Congress on Saturday released the eighth list of 38 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls to be held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. Mahesh Pathak will contest against Hema Malini for the Mathura seat in UP, whereas Mallikarjun Kharge will contest from Gulbarga in Karnataka.

New Delhi: The Congress on Saturday released its eighth list of 38 candidates for the Parliamentary polls slated to be held in April-May.

In the list, Mallikarjun Kharge will be the party candidate from Gulbarga in Karnataka whereas Mahesh Pathak will contest against Hema Malini for the Mathura seat in Uttar Pradesh.

On Sunday, there were speculations that Sapna Chaudhuri will contest against Hema Malini, however, she denied claims of her joining Congress.

Senior BJP leader BC Khanduri’s son, Manish Khanduri will contest from Garhwal in Uttarakhand.

The Congress has until now announced names of 218 candidates for the elections to the 543-member Lok Sabha polls to be held in seven phases.

Votes will be counted on May 23.
