Lockdown Creativity: Karnataka man creates a park out of waste materials

Karnataka school teacher has utilised his lockdown period by building a small garden with a wide variety of plants. Satish, who loves gardening, has created a small garden which has a waterfall, pool and a small resting place for birds.

Chikkakoluthuru (Karnataka): "I have built a small garden inside my house which has a wide variety of plants. It has been built out of simple household waste materials. I have used all the local materials to create this garden", said Satish, a plant lover.

Satish, who works as a Primary School Teacher in Chikkakoluthuru in Karnataka's Kodagu district, has built a small garden within the four walls of his house during the lockdown.

The creative garden has a small waterfall, pool and a small resting place for birds. The waterfalls has been built on the mud by plastering cement upon it. A suspension bridge using nylon threads above the pool has also been made, giving the garden an innovative look.

"I have built a small pool for agricultural purpose. A 20 feet pit using bamboos has also been dug," he added.

Satish said, "I am inclined towards organic farming which has prompted me to build this small garden. I grow at least ten varieties of vegetables for my daily usage."

The lockdown has left everyone homebound compelling people to take up new hobbies to kill time. Experts said that this extra time is a good opportunity for garden lovers and people should explore their gardening skills. The bliss of the quiet period is an interesting chance for plant lovers to enjoy the lap of nature.

With limited access to public places and space, the lockdown has emerged as a time to embrace greenery at home. People maintain indoor plants which also works as a stress buster, giving them a good leisure time.
