Arms (Amendment) Bill introduced in Lok Sabha

Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the Arms (Amendment) Bill. The Bill seeks to remove semi-automatic firearms from public circulation by banning semi-automatic firearms, magazines, and parts that can be used to assemble prohibited firearms.

Congress MP Preneet Kaur urges the government to increase to three the number of arms that persons are allowed to hold.

Bill to curb sea piracy introduced in LS

External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar sought to introduce a Bill to curb sea piracy.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor opposed the Bill saying the death penalty clause in the Bill will make it difficult for India to engage with other countries.

Jaishankar replied saying that the death penalty was only in case of murder.  

The Bill was then introduced.

Bill to abolish reservation for Anglo-Indians to be tabled

Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad sought the House's leave to introduce a Bill to abolish the reservation for Anglo-Indians in legislative bodies. Trinamool MP Saugata Ray then opposed the Bill, saying it was unconstitutional in nature and in violation of Article 14.

Govt seeks apology from Congress MPs

BJP sought an apology from two Lok Sabha members of the Congress for their "threatening position" towards Union Minister Smriti Irani, when she was speaking on the Unnao rape issue in the House on Friday. BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad asked for an apology from the concerned members of the House. Amit Shah also read out the Parliament rule book and sought apology from the Congress MPs.

Govt demands apology from Congress MPs for 'threatening' Smriti Irani

Unemployment at 45-year-high, will govt maintain central database: Tewari

"Unemployment rate today is at a 45-year-high. Given the current economic slowdown, will the government consider maintaining a central database where they have information that somebody who availed education loan has got employment or not?" Congress MP Manish Tewari asked.
