Patna: The police were attacked by liquor mafia in the Meethapur district of Patna on Saturday. The violent incident happened when the police team were carrying out raids on the liquor mafia.
Liquor mafia attack Bihar cops during raid In the scuffle, several police personnel and a member from the liquor mafia gang were injured.
According to the police, acting on a tip-off from the police headquarters, the raids were conducted under Janakpur police station. During the raid police found illegal manufacturing of liquor taking place in the area.
When the officers were in the process of arresting the smugglers, they were attacked by the liquor mafia.

"We got the information that illegal manufacturing of hooch and we carried out searches. When we were attacked by the gang, we also retaliated. One member from the liquor mafia gang was also injured and has been admitted to PMCH," said one of the police officers.
Police vehicles were also damaged in the incident and panic gripped the area. All the injured policemen have been shifted to a private hospital for treatment who were initially admitted to PMCH.
This is the first such tussle between police and liquor mafia after the Bihar government banned liquor in the state.
