Exclusive: Labourers are our heritage, will talk to CMs of UP, Bihar to bring them back, says Dushyant Chautala

In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat's Regional Editor Braj Mohan Singh, Haryana Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala spoke at length on migrant labourers' issue and government's strategy for exemptions amid lockdown from June 8. He also talked about the state government's efforts in bringing back the labourers who travelled back to their homelands amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Hyderabad:Haryana Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala participated in ETV Bharat's 'Digital Chat' programme and spoke at length on migrant labourers' issue and government's strategy for exemptions amid lockdown from June 8.

Speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat's Regional Editor Braj Mohan Singh, Chautala talked about the state government's efforts in bringing back the labourers who travelled back to their homelands amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"The labourers are our heritage, if they want to return to work in Haryana, the government is willing to make all the arrangements for the same," he said.

Chautala added that if it comes to 'reverse migration' in the coming time, the government is ready for it as well.

"We have kept 1,000 buses on standby and will send them whenever and wherever the demand comes from," he said, adding that out of 8,00,000 people who had applied to go back to their homes during the lockdown, 9,000 people want to come back to Haryana and the number is expected to rise.

The Deputy CM informed that the state government is brainstorming on reverse migration and assured that all the labourers wanting to return from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar will be brought back soon.

"I will talk to Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on the matter," he said.

Portal launched to bring back workers

Chautala said that the state government has launched an online portal to facilitate travel for the migrant workers.

"The labourers who want to come back to Haryana and work again can apply through the portal and the government will make all possible arrangements for them. I will discuss this with both the CMs," the Deputy CM added.

Portal for MSMEs also launched

"The MSME employees with salaries of Rs 20,000, if increase their credit limits, the state government will pay the required interest on the debt for them," Chautala said.

Along with all these, the state government has also launched a portal to help MSMEs get easy loans from banks as per Central Government's package.

The portal is managed by an IAS officer and we are striving to help each and every firm, he added.
