'Nirmashree’, a labour contracting society, formed by Kudumbashree Mission joining 55 Kudumbashree women construction groups which has more than 250 members is undertaking the construction of the 121 houses being built in the district along with 'I am For Alleppey'.

This project holds the record for being the fastest house construction project for flood victims in Kerala.

The houses were constructed by Kudumbashree, a women's self-help group and 'I am For Alleppey', a social media campaign launched to help rebuild Alappuzha.

Together, they constructed a house in just 40 days, and all the 121 houses were built within the given time.

These houses are also designed to save the inmates from future floods.

Under the guidance of District Sub-Collector VR Krishna Teja, the houses have been built at an elevation of one and a half meters above the ground level so that no such flood could swallow the homes once again.

As per the agreement, earlier a total of 117 houses were to be constructed for the flood-affected people, the construction scheme was expanded to 123 houses later.

The houses are built with the help of sophisticated technology assuring quality raw products.

Experts from building construction fields also demand similar quality houses in Kuttanad, another flood-affected region of Alappuzha, where houses are below the sea level.

Along with Chief Minister, several other ministers, politicians, film and cultural celebrities will also witness the inauguration ceremony of gifting key of the houses to the ruined lives.
