Malappuram: An unassuming homemaker, Mappilapparambil Ancy Mathew, from Chaliyar Idivanna in Malappuram district of Kerala, is overwhelmed to see her book published at age of 62. Ancy, who had always shown interest in creative writing right from her childhood, finally got to see her work published only during the COVID times. She used to write poetry when she was in her 4th grade.
Ernakulam Vayanappura Publications published a compilation of Ancy’s 13 Malayalam short stories titled ‘Kurachu Daivangalum Kooduthal Manushyarum’ recently. Even during the COVID and regulations, Ancy’s short story compilation seems to receive a good response. The book is priced at Rs 90. Famous litterateur Mini Mohan has written the foreword to Ancy’s book.
Ancy’s stories and her unique style of narration makes her works different from other writers. As Ancy’s pen takes one through the various levels and segments of human life, the 88-page compilation is being liked by the readers.
Ancy, who originally hails from Nilambur, finished her schooling with the Government Manavedan School, Nilambur and went on for higher studies with the MES College Mambad. After marrying Mappilapparambil Mathew, from Idivanna, Ancy decided to be a homemaker however, she kept scribbling whatever lines came to her mind as little poems, story ideas and short stories and novelettes for many years.
