New Delhi: The Delhi police on Friday hit back at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his claim stating a rise in criminal activities in the national capital and said that the crime rate has come down.
In a tweet, the Delhi police presented the recent crime data and ruled out the increase in the number of crimes.
Earlier, Kejriwal had tweeted seeking an intervention by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi to improve the law and order situation in the state.
The tweet came in the wake of five murders reported in Delhi within 24 hours.
In all the incidents the accused had used firearms.
Outer Delhi witnessed two separate instances of murder, in one of them the victim was shot over a financial dispute while in another case, the victim was shot dead due to personal enmity.
In yet another case, two men were shot dead by unidentified bike-borne men in East Delhi's Nandnagari area. The case, which appears to be part of a series of gang wars in the capital, the Delhi police has neither denied nor accepted the gang war angle.
