Srinagar:A Kashmiri, who had been arrested on suspicious identity in Iraq, has been released. His household, went on jubilant mode upon his arrival in Srinagar.
Nazir Ahmad Dar, 51, from the Zadibal area of Srinagar, was detained last December in Iraq, where he accompanied his wife on a religious trip.
In fact, a warrant has been issued by the World Police (Interpol) against a man with the same name. Dar was arrested in a case of mistaken identity.
According to Dar's relatives, he was arrested by the Iraqi administration at Najaf International Airport, on December 30.
According to a Red Corner notice issued by Interpol, "Nazir Ahmad Dar, 51, who lives in the Sopore area of north Kashmir, has ties to militant outfits and is also collecting funds for these organizations." Based on these charges, the individual is wanted by the Indian government.
It took weeks for Dar and his relatives to prove that the Iraqi authorities had detained the wrong person.
