New Delhi:To create awareness on coronavirus, the Government of India made telecom operators to air information in all languages when a mobile phone subscriber makes a call to another.
Incidentally, Delhi-based Tintu Mol Joseph, the voice behind COVID-19 caller tune in Malayalam, is currently enjoying a massive fan following because for her caller tune.
Tintu Mol, who hails from a village in Sullia taluk in Dakshina Kannada district, moved to Delhi to complete her post-graduation degree in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University and to appear for IAS examinations.
Tintu Mol told that she wanted a part-time job to meet her educational expenses and her professor, Dr Purushottam Bilimale, Chief of the Kannada Chair at JNU, introduced her to famous Kannada voice artist Sarayu Krishna Bhat.
"Dr Purushottam Bilimale identified my talent and was very supportive, " said Joseph.
After clearing the voice test she started making Kannada announcements. But later she got more offers in Malayalam. She also started working in Doordarshan.
She has been a regular voice-over artist for many Central government-sponsored schemes, like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana, Jan Dhan, Postal Insurance and Pulse Polio drive.
Her voice has also been a prominent feature in the advertisements of several brands.
When the country's first COVID-19 case was reported in Kerala, Tintumol translated the Hindi message on the deadly virus into Malayalam under the direction of a well-known voice-over artist Kalabhavan Prajith. Thereafter, the recording of her voice was turned into a phone message. And in no time, she gathered a large fan following.
Speaking to ETV Bharat from New Delhi, Tintumol said, "Now, I am getting a lot of opportunities. I feel proud that I am part of the COVID-19 awareness drive. However, I want to clear my UPSC examinations first."
