A Lingayat youth from Kabbur had fallen in love with a Muslim girl from the same village and married her after she got the ordination, Lingha Deeksha.

Chikkodi (Karnataka):A Muslim girl in Kabbura village of Karnataka's Belagavi district has given the ordination, Lingha Deeksha for getting married to a Hindu boy on Friday.

The girl has been identified as Arabia Makandar of the same village.

According to sources, a youth, Mahesh Kurbeta of Kabbura village in Chikkodi taluk had fallen in love with a Muslim girl from the same village. But the parents of the youth were not agreeing to accept Arabia as daughter-in-law because she was not ordained into Lingayat faith which they follow.

In view of this tricky situation, Mahesh met Shivabasava Swamiji at Virakta Mutt and explained the problem he was facing. He also requested Swamiji to admit his wife into the Lingayat faith by giving her the customary 'Linga Deeksha', sources said.

Later, On Friday, Shivabasava Swamiji of Virakta Mutt in his village performed formalities to enable a Muslim girl to adopt Lingayat faith and the couple got married after this, sources added.
