Karnataka government has decided to withdraw night curfew order and allowed midnight Christmas celebrations today.

Bengaluru: Karnataka government withdrew the night curfew which was supposed be in effect from Dec 24 midnight till December 31 between 10 pm and 6 am. The state government had imposed the curfew on December 23 in wake of the new coronavirus strain. 

"Night curfew order, issued earlier, has been withdrawn after reviewing the situation on the suggestion of Technical Advisory Committee," said a statement from Chief Minister's Office

Police commissioner said Kamal Pant, "Midnight Christmas mass shall be permitted in Bengaluru tonight, says the police commissioner The state government has imposed the night curfew between 11 pm and 5 am, starting tonight."

According to the Sources, Cabinet ministers and other industrial sectors' head, pubs, bars and hotel Owners have pressured government to withdraws the night curfew due to avoid loss during new year celebrations.

The government had decided to impose the night curfew based on night curfew. 

In the wake of public opinion which thinks that night curfew is not necessary, it has been decided to withdraw it after discussions with Cabinet colleagues and senior officials,” Yediyurappa said in a statement.  

He urged citizens to impose self-restraint by wearing face masks and ensuring social distancing. 

He asked citizens to avoid “unnecessary” travel and strictly follow Covid-19 regulations of the government “to help stop the spread of the virus.”
