Kanpur:Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Anupam Dubey, kin of wanted history-sheeter Vikas Dubey, was released on personal bond after he was arrested in Sitapur. The leader was acquitted after 12 hours of interrogation as cops cited 'lack of evidence' to keep him in judicial custody.
The accused was booked under the provisions of the Pandemic Act but was released today. According to the sources, the accused's arrest was allegedly linked to Kanpur encounter case.
Anupam Dubey was arrested on Sunday, with 12 people, after he had made attempts to enter the district in two luxury cars.
A gun, two pistols, six rifles, and around 170 cartridges were recovered from their vehicles when the cops had questioned them about the purpose of their visit.
"The call details of Anupam Dubey were accessed but there were no signs of foul play. We also checked the registration details of the vehicle and the license. But there was nothing suspicious," said Abhay Kumar, Misrikh Circle Officer.
