"He was the President of Hindu Samaj Party. The assailants came to his house in Lucknow yesterday, sat and had tea with him, and later killed him after sending all security guards out to buy something from the market," Adityanath said.

Lucknow divisional commissioner meets Tiwari's family

Lucknow divisional commissioner Mukesh Meshram after meeting the family of Kamlesh Tiwari assured that the demands of relatives have been taken into consideration.

The family will be provided security and they will also be meeting the Chief Minister.

A licensed weapon will be provided to the eldest son for self-defence. He'll also be recommended for a job. They'll be provided appropriate financial help.

The commissioner has also assured that the investigation of the case will be done by a committee.

Detained accused confesses to their crime

Uttar Pradesh DGP has confirmed that the three accused who were detained by Gujarat ATS, have accepted that they were involved in the case.

Addressing a press conference here, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) O.P. Singh said, "A joint team of UP and Gujarat Police has detained Maulana Mohsin Sheikh, Faizan and Khurshid Ahmed Pathan and is interrogating them."

Singh said the police initially detained five persons from Surat, but two were released later. "Their activities are being monitored," said Singh.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also keeping an eye on the probe and the may soon take over the probe from the UP Police soon.

FIR against two maulanas

The Uttar Pradesh police have also registered the FIR against Mohammed Mufti Naeem Kazmi and Imam Maulana Anwarul Haq from Bijnor based on the complaint filed by Tiwari's wife Kiran.

These two have also been detained and they are being questioned by the police.

 A joint team of Uttar Pradesh Police, Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad and Gujarat Police on Saturday detained three persons from Surat in the case.

Hindu Samaj Party leader mudered in Lucknow

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh):The president of a little known Hindu Samaj Party was found murdered at his office in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow.

Kamlesh Tiwari (45) was earlier associated with a faction of the Hindu Mahasabha.

According to the sources, the attackers wearing saffron clothes had walked into Tiwari's office in Khurshid Bagh on Friday on the pretext of handing over a box of sweets. Inside the office, the assailants opened the box, took out a gun and sprayed bullets at Tiwari and fled. Tiwari was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.

Police reached the spot and gathered the CCTV footage. 

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to investigate Tiwari's murder.

SK Bhagat (Inspector General Lucknow), Dinesh Puri (Superintendent of Police Crime Lucknow) and PK Mishra (Deputy Superintendent of Police Special Task Force) are part of the SIT that will be probing the case.

The Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha in a statement condemned the incident.          

Police said briefs protests were held in the area by local residents after the murder.
