Bengaluru(Karnataka): There is another term that has been added to the cybercrime vocabulary. It is 'Juice Jacking.' Many have fallen victim to it and yet there are no precautions against it other than being aware. Ever since the charging cable of the mobile phone has also been converted into data cable for convenience sake, juice jacking has been a convenient way to hack into the private data stored in mobile phones of unsuspecting victims.
Hackers target public spaces where free charging points are given like airports, bus stations, railway stations, parks and malls. The USB ports for charging as well as preprogrammed data cable could be the snare through which the details of the individual are transferred. Hackers will come to know about passwords used for banking, social media profiles, personal data and also gain access to personal pictures. They will reset the passwords and lock you out of the device or blackmail you with your personal data.
