Over 51.5% votes polled in 6th phase of J-K DDC polls

Jammu: Over 51.5 per cent of 7.48 lakh electorates exercised their franchise on Sunday in the sixth phase of the District Development Council elections, which covered 31 constituencies spread over 18 districts of Jammu and Kashmir, State Election Commissioner KK Sharma said.

The polling started at 7 am and ended at 2 pm peacefully across the Union Territory, with Jammu Division recording 68.56 per cent voting and Kashmir Division registering 31.55 per cent, Sharma told reporters here.

He said Poonch district in Jammu recorded the highest voter turnout of 76.78 per cent, while Shopian district in south Kashmir the lowest at 4.60 per cent.

J&K DDC polls: 26.11% votes polled in 6th phase  

The sixth phase of District Development Council (DDC) elections J&K recorded voting percentage of 26.11 per cent across constituencies spread over different districts of Jammu & Kashmir in the first four hours of polling on Sunday.

As per the figures given by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, Pulwama has recorded voting percentage of 5.11 per cent, Baramulla 15.62, Kulgam 19.53, Shopian 2.06, Anantnag 11.74, Bandipora 29.39, Ganderbal 24.61, Kupwara 23.50 and Budgam 17.68 per cent, till 11 am.

Similarly, in Jammu division, Udhampur has recorded voting percentage of 32.47, Jammu 36, Kathua 31.03, Ramban 34.18, Doda 28.79, Samba 39.20, Poonch 39.20, Rajouri 38.28 and Reasi 37.54, till 11 am.

Kashmir division recorded an overall polling percentage of 15.98 while Jammu Division recorded 34.77 upto 11:00 am.

In the sixth phase of DDC polls, voting is being held in 31 constituencies, 14 from Kashmir division and 17 from Jammu division.

In this phase of polling, 7,48,301 electors (3,90,432 male and 3,57,869 female voters) will exercise their right to franchise at 2,071 polling stations - 1,208 in Kashmir division and 863 in Jammu division.

In Kashmir, there are 124 candidates in fray including 47 women. In Jammu division, there are 121 candidates in fray for the 17 DDC constituencies in this phase, including 53 women.

JK DDC polls: 245 candidates in fray for 6th phase

Jammu (Jammu Kashmir): 31 Constituencies are all set to go for polling in the sixth phase of ongoing District Development Council (DDC) polls on December 13, meanwhile, 334 Panch and 77 Sarpanch seats will also witness voting on the same day across Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing an evening press conference here, State Election Commissioner (SEC), KK Sharma informed that a total of 31 DDC constituencies will go to polls including 14 seats from the Kashmir division and 17 from the Jammu division.

Giving further details, the SEC said that against the 14 DDC constituencies of the Kashmir division going to poll tomorrow, there are 124 candidates in fray including 47 women. In Jammu division, there are 121 candidates in fray for the 17 DDC constituencies in this phase, including 53 women.

748301 electors (390432 male and 357869 female voters) are going to elect their representatives in all 31 DDC constituencies, he said and added that a total of 2071 polling stations have been designated with 1208 in Kashmir division and 863 in Jammu division.
