IPFT engaging in 'undemocratic' activities: BJP leader Rebati Tripura

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Tripura BJP leader Rebati Tripura has accused the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura - its alliance partner in Tripura- of engaging in violence and "undemocratic" activities. He also accused them of attacking his house.

New Delhi:With the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) accusing the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), its alliance partner in Tripura, of attacking its supporters, BJP MP from East Tripura tribal reserve seat at Gandacherra Rebati Tripura Tuesday accused the regional party of engaging in violent "undemocratic" practices to save itself from losing it's support base.

"I feel that after losing the Lok Sabha polls, IPFT fears of losing its vote base, which is why they are engaging in such undemocratic activities. You can't engage in violent activities in a democracy, " said Tripura while speaking to ETV Bharat in Delhi.

Further accusing the IPFT of targeting him and his family members, the BJP leader said, "On the night of June 14 IPFT workers attacked my house. They had also threatened my father after which he filed an FIR against them."

"We are willing to cooperate if they stop doing this, " added Tripura.
The BJP had forged an alliance with the IPFT ahead of the 2018 assembly election in the state. BJP (36), IPFT (8) together have 44 seats in the 60 member Tripura Legislative Assembly.
