Chidambaram spends quiet night at CBI headquarters

Former Union finance minister P Chidambaram spent a quiet night in the CBI guest house on the ground floor of the agency headquarters after his dramatic arrest from his posh residence in the INX media corruption case, reported PTI.

Chidambaram, 73, was reportedly kept in the suite 5 of the guest house. It is normal for the agency to keep high security arrested accused in the guest house to ensure proper security and monitoring.

Chidambaram, accompanied by the members of the investigation team, was brought to the CBI headquarters at around 10 pm on Wednesday night.

New Delhi: Congress leader and former finance minister, P Chidambaram addressed the media following a lookout notice by the ED and CBI on Wednesday. 

"I believe that the foundation of a democracy is liberty, most precious article of the constitution is Article 21 that guarantees life and liberty. If I'm asked to choose between life and liberty, I will choose liberty," says Chidambaram. 

Congress leaders Kapil Sibal, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and Ahmed Patel have also arrived at AICC headquarters.
