New Delhi:Interfaith Harmony Foundation has come forward in support of the Parliament's decision to modify provisions of Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
"India as a democratic and secular country is governed by its Constitution. Every Act of the Parliament with no exception is binding on all of us. Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and there can be no compromise or surrender on that," Dr. Khwaja Iftikhar Ahmed, president of Interfaith Harmony Foundation said.
Inter Faith Harmony Foundation backs govt on Kashmir move It, however, added that there was a need to "rebuild new bridges of understanding and inter-personal bonds."
While addressing a press conference, Dr. Khwaja Iftikhar Ahmed said, "There is no question of having doubt over the decision taken by our Government. We should have faith in our Prime Minister and Home Minister, who have promised to give back statehood to Jammu and Kashmir when normalcy is restored."
"Nothing should take precedence over the nation and national interest. This is a time of healing, not hurting," he added.
Interfaith Harmony Foundation has been floated by a team of moderate intellectuals, youth leaders, social activists, educators, academicians and retired civil servants. The foundation closely coordinates with all other groups; organizations and institutions who are working for interfaith harmony at the national and international level.
