New Delhi:Hours after senior Congress leader Tom Vadakkan joined the BJP, a Congress leader said he should have instead joined the Army.

"Why did he join BJP, he should have joined the Army," said Anil Thomas, vice-chairman of the Congress minority cell, in an exclusive interview to ETV Bharat. Thomas is the second face from the Christian community in the Congress.

After joining BJP, Vadakkan said that "Congress is a party ruled by dynasty politics." He also criticised Congress president Rahul Gandhi over his remarks after the Pulwama incident.

Anil Thomas said that Vodakkan joined BJP for his selfish interests. "He has joined BJP for his selfish interests. If he says that Congress is a dynastic party, he should not have associated with Congress for the last several years," said Thomas.

Thomas said that it is Congress who gave "Vadakkan his identity."

Thomas also said that Vadakkan switch to BJP will not have any impact on Congress. "Our people know whom to support and whom not to," said Thomas.
