Indian army contingent reach Colombo for Mitra Shakti

Indian army contingent reached Colombo to participate in the military training exercise Mitra Shakti to get acquainted with counterinsurgency operations. They later paid homage Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) war memorial.

New Delhi: In order to get acquainted with counterinsurgency operations, the Indian army contingent reached Srilanka's capital Colombo on Tuesday to participate in the military training exercise Mitra Shakti.

Indian army contingent paid homage to the IPKF (Indian Peace Keeping Force) war memorial.

Contingent Commander of the Indian army, Col Parthasarathy Roy along with other officers paid tribute by laying the wreath at the memorial dedicated to Indian armed forces who participated in IPKF- operation Pawan from 1987 to 1990.


The sixth edition of Ex Mitra Shakti started on Tuesday with 1st battalion of Bihar regiment participating along with 1st Gemunu Watch Battalion of Sri Lankan Army.
