New Delhi: Against the backdrop of a massive hue and cry over illegal migrants from neighbouring Bangladesh, India is likely to raise this issue with visiting Bangladesh Premier Sheikh Hasina.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Hasina has arrived in New Delhi on Thursday to attend the India Economic Summit being organised by the World Economic Forum (WEF) as a chief guest.

Hasina will sit for bilateral discussion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. Sources in the Government said that as many as 10 to 12 bilateral agreements are likely to be signed between the two neighbouring countries after the Modi-Hasina meeting."In this meeting, Indian delegation is likely to raise the issue of the presence of illegal Bangladeshi migrants in India," sources said. This assumes significance following the fact that Modi has reportedly touched the issue of National Register of Citizen (NRC) with Hasina in the recently concluded United National General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. The NRC was published in Assam to identify the numbers of Bangladesh people living in Assam illegally. On earlier occasions, Bangladesh has told India that there was no illegal influx. In fact, Bangladesh has asked India to provide documents of the illegal Bangladeshi living in India. Both Modi and Hasina during their meeting are likely to discuss Teesta water sharing as well as Rohingya issue. Hasina during her visit would also meet President Ram Nath Kovind as well as UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
