Chakma and his team have been working in the conflict zone of northeastern states. Chakma said, "The government of Myanmar is not going to take back the Rohingyas. The government of the region should have documented the Rohingya refugees."

He said, "The Government of India also could have documented the Rohingya refugees with the purpose of giving shelter and deport them back to Myanmar at an appropriate time." Also, the Union Home Ministry on several occasions has said that Rohingya refugees might involve in anti-national activities.

"People from the Rohingya community living in India have been involved in illegal activities. We know Rohingya people are linked with wrong and illegal activities," Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju had earlier said.

According to the reports, there are more than 40,000 Rohingya refugees living in India. The Governments of India and Myanmar had signed an MoU over the Rohingya refugees issue. Chakma claimed that the MoU has also not been disclosed until now.
