New Delhi:India on Wednesday registered a Covid19 recovery rate of 76 per cent taking the total recovery number to 24,67,758. As many as 63,173 people have recovered in the last 24 hours.

Officials said that the huge number of recovery has further widened the difference with active cases by more than 3.5 times.

The total number of active cases at present is 7,07,267 which is 21.87 per cent of the total positive cases.

"The coordinated efforts of centre and states and UTs of early detection through aggressive testing and efficient clinical management of hospitalised cases have shown results with continuously regressing case fatality rate. Country's case-fatality rate till today is 1.84 per cent, which is lowest in the world," Health Ministry officials said.

Early identification of the COVID 19 infections through timely and aggressive testing has played a pivotal role in India's strategy to fight the pandemic.

Expanded diagnostic lab network and facilitation for easy testing across the country have given a substantial boost. "Building on these achievements. the tests per million population have seen a sharp increase to 27,284," officials said.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has issued clinical guidance on diabetes management at Covid19 patient management facility.

The guidance emphasised on screening every patient at admission for hyperglycemia with at least two capillary blood glucose values (1 pre-meal and 1 post-meal value) by a glucometer. It also said that every patient with diabetes should be started on a diabetic diet.

The ministry, while quoting scientific evidence, said that COVID screening for all diagnosed TB patients and TB screening for all COVID positive patients should be conducted.

"Study shows that history of active as well as latent TB is an important risk factor for SARS-CoV-2 infection," the ministry said.

The ministry suggested for TB screening for COVID positive patients and TB screening for both ILI and SARI cases.
