New Delhi: India on Thursday said it was ready to work closely with the new government in Sri Lanka and expressed hope that it will fulfil aspirations of the Tamil community living in the island country.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Raveesh Kumar claimed that India is ready to work with the government of the day in Ceylon.

Talking about the Tamil's in Sri Lanka, Kumar said that External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar has already conveyed the message to the Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa that process of national reconciliation should be taken forward.
The newly elected Sri Lankan President accepted PM Modi's invitation. He will be visiting India on November 29-30, Kumar added.
