Nawada: The role of central government's Department of Posts - India Post - has become more significant ever since coronavirus-induced lockdown was imposed and people, especially the ones living in rural areas of the country, expecting the postman of their locality to not only deliver their letters and parcels but lifesaving medicines and funds as well.
The postal department has created history in the district by distributing subsidy of rupees one crore to beneficiaries here in a single day during the lockdown. The India Post has also proved a life saver for many by delivering medicines and funds to their doorsteps as people were not allowed go out.

An old man from Nanora village in the district, who had his bank account in a bank situated in the nearby city, was unable to visit the city because of the lockdown, got his problem registered with the local post office and it helped him by getting money from his bank in the city.
A postman speaking to the ETV Bharat here said he had realised how important it had become for him to deliver packets and letters to the doorsteps of the people during the restrictions imposed to curb contagious disease of coronavirus.
"I would deliver every packet the same day I receive it," he said, adding that he feels proud by helping people by ensuring prompt services.
"I will continue to serve people in future too," he added.
