India planning to snub Pakistan 'false blip' on kashmir at the UN

Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale had said that India will only discuss issues which is on the agenda at the high-level discussion session to be held at the UNGA in New York. Earlier, Islamabad conveyed to the Indian High Commission that it will not allow the use of Pakistan's air space for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flight to the US.

New Delhi:Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale, during a press briefing in New Delhi, hinted India's plan to completely snub Pakistan's Kashmir bogey at the upcoming 74th United Nations General Assembly session in New York.

"If Pakistan decides to raise bilateral issues at the UNGA then it is not our concern. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's agenda would be to discuss issues raised during the high-level dialogues session at the UN," Gokhale said.

On a query whether PM has any plans to counter Pakistan's attempt to internationalise Kashmir issue at the UN platform, Foreign Secretary said that PM will focus on things for which this UNGA high level segment is made for.

"PM will flag India's contribution as a developing and responsible nation towards global security, development and peace as well as the aspirations India has from other member countries," Gokhale said.

India on Thursday had said Pakistan's attempt to "polarise" and "politicise" the Kashmir issue using lies and deceit at the UN Human Rights Council has totally failed and that world community was well aware of its credentials.

Further, the foreign secretary claimed that if Pakistan is in violation of International conventions, then such issues will be raised by India at multilateral forums, including closure of air space to a foreign leader.

Pakistan on Wednesday had rejected India's request to allow over its air space for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flight to the US later this week.

Following New Delhi's decision, Islamabad has unilaterally downgraded its diplomatic relations with India and partially closed its airspace.

Previously, Islamabad had denied overflight clearance to President Ram Nath Kovind's flight to Iceland earlier this month.
