Manila (Philippines): India and the Philippines on Friday 'strongly condemned' terrorism in all manifestations and expressed commitment to continue their cooperation in fighting the global menace.
"India and Philippines strongly condemn terrorism and commit to continue their cooperation in fighting this global menace! Defence and Maritime security emerge as a new focus area!" External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
Earlier in the day, President Ram Nath Kovind has said that India and the Philippines have been victims of terrorism and both the countries were committed to working together closely to defeat it in all forms and manifestations.
"Both our countries have been victims of terrorism. As you know, India has been the target of cross-border terrorism for decades. We are committed to working closely together to defeat and eliminate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," President Kovind said during his ongoing five-day visit to the Philippines.
The President also emphasized that the "two vibrant democracies" believe in "rules-based international order."
