New Delhi: Following reports of Coronavirus resurgence in many places in China, Japan, Korea, Union Health Ministry on Sunday has expressed serious concern over such reports.
"Resurgence of Coronavirus is a cause of concern. Countries like China, Japan, Korea have reported a resurgence of Coronavirus," said Lav Aggrawal, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The Chinese government has reportedly asked its people to stay indoors and stay vigilant.
Aggrawal, however, said that there is no need to panic, the government is aware and is planning things so as to manage the situation.
Aggrawal said that with more 909 cases in last one day, the total Covid positive cases in India reaches 8356. The total death toll stands at 273 .
"34 people died on Sarurday," said Aggrawal. He said that 716 people have also been cured.
Dr Manoj Murhekar, senior scientist from ICMR said that as many as 1,86,906 samples have been tested out of which 7,953 have been confirmed positive.
"If we look into the last five days as many as 584 positive cases are coming every day," said Dr Murhekar.
"We have 151 government and 61 private laboratories for Covid 19 testing," said Dr Murhekar.
He said that tests have been conducted in 290 districts across India. "As many as 14 countries are trying to get the anti-Covid drugs. We are also trying, but nothing positive has come as of now," said Dr Murhekar.
Meanwhile, Aggrawal said that India is changing its strategy to fight Covid 19 pandemic as per requirements.
He said that against a total requirement of 1,671 beds in comparison to a total 835 positive Covid 19 cases in the country, "We have 1,05,980 isolation beds in 601 hospitals across India."
"We are always in advance as far as the requirement of beds is concerned for Covid 19 patients," said Aggrawal.
When India recorded 979 cases on March 29, requirements of bed was 196, but during that time also we had 41,974 beds in 163 hospitals across India, said Aggrawal.
He said government, as well as private hospitals, are keeping isolation beds for Covid patience in enough numbers.
Giving details, Aggrawal said that AIIMS has 242 (existing) and 18 beds (upcoming). AIIMS has 50 ICU beds and 70 ventilators.
Safdarjang hospital too has 400 isolation beds and 100 ICU beds.
As many as four speciality hospitals in Andhra Pradesh has 1,670 beds. Omandurar Government multi-speciality hospital in Tamil Nadu has 350 beds. MCH Block, government medical college hospital in Kerala has 950 beds.
He said that KIMS hospital in Bhubaneswar has 500 beds and Ashwini hospital in Cuttak has 150 beds. Seven Hospital in Mumbai has 100 isolation beds.
Aggrawal said that private hospitals have also come forward. Apollo Hospital has 250 beds across hospitals and Max Healthcare has designated isolation wards in two hospitals in Delhi and NCR.
Aggrawal said that Army has also set up 51 dedicated Covid hospitals with 9000 isolation beds.
He said that the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) in Arunachal Pradesh has setup 50 specialised tents. "PSUs like Bharat Electronics, HAL have also come forward in the fight against Covid19," said Aggrawal.
He informed that Indian Railways has established 20,000 train coaches into isolation wards.
Meanwhile, Puniya Salila Srivastava, joint secretary in the Home Ministry has said that Home Ministry through a dedicated cybercrime portal is also sharing security tips for work from home and also against financial crimes.
She informed that through a Covid dedicated control room in MHA, the ministry is coordinating to solve logistical issues related to supply and transportation of essential goods.
Meanwhile, as per Supreme Court's directives, the MHA on Sunday has written a letter to all states and UTs to take necessary actions in compliance of the direction of the court while implementing lockdown measures to fight Covid-19.
The apex court has directed that adequate medical facilities besides proper arrangements for food, clean drinking water and sanitation be ensured for migrant workers at relief camps and shelter camps across the country.
