Located about 50 kilometres away from the state capital Shimla, Lana Bhalta, a remote village in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, has been dealing with the tons plastic waste generated by its residents by transforming it into bricks, vases and interlocking tiles.

The initiative has been taken by the village Panchayat, which collects plastic waste from across the village and dumps them at the Panchayat office before it is taken away by members of Baru Sahib.
