1. PM Narendra Modi to launch platform for transparent taxation today

Ahead of Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is hosting a meeting with all Principal Chief Commissioners and Chief Commissioners of Income Tax on August 13. During the meet, PM Modi is set to launch a new tax programme - Transparent Taxation — Honouring the Honest’. The event will be witnessed by various Chambers of Commerce, Trade Associations, Chartered Accountants' associations and also eminent taxpayers, apart from the officers and officials of the Income Tax Department. Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Singh Thakur will also be present on the occasion.

2. BJP MLAs' meet today to strategise about upcoming Rajasthan Assembly session

The meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs in Rajasthan is scheduled to take place on Thursday at 11 am at the BJP office in Jaipur. Senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly, Gulab Chand Kataria, has written to all the party MLAs asking them to be present at the party office for the meet. In today's meeting, MLAs are likely to strategise about the upcoming assembly session.

3. Sushant Singh Rajput death case: SC to Rhea Chakraborty's plea today

The Supreme Court will hear today Rhea Chakraborty's plea in which she has sought transfer of case investigation to Mumbai from Patna. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has favoured Rhea's contention, saying that CBI has nothing to do with the case.

4. SC to consider BSP MLAs merger with Congress in Rajasthan today

The Supreme Court will today hear a petition challenging the merger of six Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislators of Rajasthan Assembly with the Congress party.
