While CBSE and ICSE await Supreme Court order to conduct Class XII board exams, about 8.5 lakh students will have to appear for writing the SSLC examination in the state of Karnataka. The Supreme Court had upheld a recent order of Karnataka High Court agreeing that constitutional courts cannot interfere in academic matters, here is a heads up on the important national events to look out for today.

SC order on CBSE/ICSE board exams likely today

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will inform the Supreme Court on its decision pertaining to board exams. The Bench will be hearing a plea seeking cancellation of this year’s CBSE exams, filed by the parents of students scheduled to appear for their Class XII Board exams in July.

At least 8.5 lakh students to take SSLC exams in Karnataka

About 8.5 lakh students will have to appear for writing the SSLC examination in the state of Karnataka. The Supreme Court had upheld a recent order of Karnataka High Court agreeing that constitutional courts cannot interfere in academic matters. It also said an alternative option of appearing at a later date can be given. So if students can't appear on June 25, then an exam can be taken 2 months later.

National Student's Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of Indian National Congress will hold protest in Delhi against the continuous increase in fuel price rates since June 7. For the first time in Delhi, diesel has become costlier than petrol. While petrol costs Rs 79.76 per litre, diesel can be bought at Rs 79.88 per litre.

TRAI to hold open house discussion today

Telecom regulator TRAI is all set to hold an open house discussion -- a standard practice followed by it to take verbal inputs from industry and public on specific issues --through video-conferencing mode. The subject will be “Framework for Technical Compliance of Conditional Access System (CAS) and Subscriber Management System (SMS) for Broadcasting and Cable Services” and also the launch of TRAI Channel Selector Application.
