Dehradun: Uttarakhand cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj on Wednesday flatly refused the allegations about him joining the Congress party and said that there is no dispute between “him and the party”.
Uttarakhand cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj speaks to ETV Bharat Speaking to ETV Bharat, Maharaj said, "Congress is spreading rumours about me to gather huge crowd at their rallies. I am satisfied with the organisation of the party (BJP).”
He went on to say, “Neither I want to contest elections nor I have asked for the ticket. Though, I was asked to contest but I refused to contest in parliamentary elections.”
On charges of him inching towards the Congress, he said, “I think leader of Opposition, Indira Hridayesh is spreading the rumour. People should ask her to reveal the name of leaders who are about to join Congress."
When asked if the relation between him and chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat getting hostile, he said: “No”.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharaj said, "I want Narendra Modi to be re-elected as prime minister and serve our country. The country is in need of his leadership. Also, there is no alternative to him in current political scenario."
