Bihar: In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's praises for his performance in the ongoing Parliament sessions, Lok Janshakti Party leader Chirag Paswan thanked him and said that it is a moment of pride for him.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, the young MP from Jamui Lok Sabha constituency of Bihar, said, "I would like to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for praising me. The way he praised me was very encouraging. It is a moment of pride for me that Prime Minister Modi took notice of it all, acknowledged it and appreciated it."

He further said, "over the past five years I have tried to make sure that I maintain my attendance in the Parliament and I tried to learn the ways of the Parliament. I always prepared well for all the debates I participated in."

In the first BJP parliamentary party meeting after he came back to power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday pulled up party MPs for their poor attendance in Parliament and asked them to be present during legislative proceedings.

The Prime Minister also cited the example of Paswan for his good attendance in Parliament and told BJP MPs to learn from him on his preparedness while participating in parliamentary debates.

Paswan, the son of veteran politician and LJP supremo Ram Vilas Paswan, praised PM Modi for constantly monitoring Bharatiya Janta Party-led National Democratic Alliance leaders, "this incident also shows a different side to our Prime Minister, despite being busy with national affairs, he also keeps an eye on all it's MP's. The way PM monitors all the members of his party as well as allies is praiseworthy. I will always try my best to live up to his expectations."

The LJP leader also took a veiled dig at the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Tejaswi Yadav for having gone missing after the Lok Sabha poll results citing health issues and not attending a single session of the ongoing state assembly sessions.

While addressing him as a 'younger brother', Paswan said, "If he is that unwell then I would suggest my younger brother resign and make way for other experienced leaders from his party to take over the position. The Leader of Opposition's role is as important as that of the Chief Minister itself."
